Approx. 700 projects-applications have been submitted for funding under the EU Rural Development Program 2007-2013 by 13 May 2009. Some of these are projects for production of eco-energy, said Spiridon Alexandrov, State Expert, Rural Development Directorate, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Supply.
The Program provides for different measures for support of projects for production of renewable energy, indicated Alexandrov. According to him, the received grant for eco-power station does not supersede the purchase of the power at preferential prices. The funding of projects, relative to renewable energy could be provided also by the banks. For instance, DSK has special unit for granting credits to projects, funded by the European funds.
